Do I need to be based in the UK?
No — Lavender Common operates across Europe and welcomes volunteers from any country. Some roles may have specific location requirements, which we'll make clear when we follow up.
Is there a minimum time commitment?
It depends on the role. General volunteering can be as little as a few hours a month. For the Human Rights Fellowship, we'd suggest one to two days a week for around three months. We'll talk it through when we follow up.
Is any of this paid?
Volunteering with Lavender Common is unpaid. You'd be giving your time to the cause — and, especially on the Fellowship, gaining real experience on live ECHR casework along the way.
How long until I hear back?
We aim to respond to every expression of interest within a couple of weeks. If we don't think it's a fit right now, we'll still let you know.
Can I volunteer without legal expertise?
Absolutely. Translators, organisers, researchers, and communications support are all genuinely useful — you don't need to be a lawyer to contribute to the movement.
