Community Organisers are how Lavender Common puts down roots across the continent — recruiting supporters, building local networks, and representing the organisation in their city or region.
Flexible — a few hours a month to start. The role grows with you: some organisers invest more as they build momentum in their area.
Anywhere in Europe. The role is most impactful when you have existing ties to a city or region — local knowledge is the asset.
Activists and community builders; people with existing local LGBTQ+ networks; anyone motivated by grassroots organising over institutional work.
What you'll do
Community Organisers are Lavender Common's presence on the ground. The work is relational — building trust with people in your city, connecting them with the organisation's mission, and turning that connection into support and engagement.
- Recruit new supporters through local outreach, events, and personal networks
- Connect LGBTQ+ organisations and allies in your area with Lavender Common's work
- Organise community gatherings, talks, and local fundraising initiatives
- Act as a point of contact for people in your region who want to get involved
- Share local intelligence — what's happening on the ground, what issues are live, what the community needs
What we're looking for
No specific background is required. What matters is that you're embedded in your community, that people trust you, and that you care about what Lavender Common is trying to do. Experience in activism, event organising, or supporter recruitment is an advantage — but someone with strong local relationships and genuine motivation will go further than a professional organiser who's new to the area.
Right now we're focusing on building our supporter community in 16 countries: the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland.
